Objective: To study the biochemical parameters of serum cholesterol and serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase in fish channa punctatus, exposed under pesticide metasystox.Materials and Methods: This study was concluded in fish channa punctatus, exposed 24 to 96 hours, to four different concentration of metasystox pesticide. Serum cholesterol and S.G.P.T. levels were estimated as biochemical biomarkers.
Result: There were significantly increase in serum cholesterol (Hypercholesterolemia) and S.G.P.T observed in metasystox pesticide exposed on fish channa punctatus, about at all concentration and time intervals.
Conclusion: The hypercholesterolemia and elevated aminotransferase (S.G.P.T) due to metasystox toxicity referred as biomarkers for the disorder like myocardial infarction, heart attack, hepatitis biliary obstruction, alcoholic cirrhosis, cancer, toxic hepatitis etc, in human beings

Since forages constitute a major portion of the feed consumed by ruminants and their major function is to provide energy, we are on the constant look out for fodders which besides being palatable and high yielding should also be a good source of energy. Pusa chari is one such fodder developed by the I.A.R.I., New Delhi. It has many varieties which are reported to be resistant to pests and diseases, unlike common jowar. Of the Pusa chari fodder varieties recommended by the I.A.R.I, for propagation, some fodders, namely, PC 23, 1 and 6 have already been examined and their feeding potential and energy evaluation discussed earlier. In the present communication the results obtained on PC 7, 9, 21 and 40 are being reported.- Unit Trusts - The Indian Experience

Large quantities of mahua seed cake (MSC) are available in the country but at present it is not used as a normal ingredient of the ration of livestock because of the pungent odour and bitter taste of the cake attributed to the presence of saponin in the material. In an earlier study, carried out on about one year old male buffalo calves for nearly six monihs, Joshi et al observed that by gradual replacement nearly 80 per cent of the wheat straw consnmed by control animals, could be substituted by unground rice husk without affecting the growth of the animals. It was however, considered necessary to examine if the continued feeding of rice husk has any adverse effect on the internal organs of these animals. The study was there fore, extended for another 12 months and the results obtained are being reported in this communication.- Unground Rice Husk as a Roughage Source in the Dietary of Buffaloes
